Tim
Bowman
|
| |
Tim Bowman's passion
for music has been evident since the beginning and
it's evident that the passion is only starting to
grow. With the release of this album Bowman really
reached out to his fans and showed his real side.
"These are songs I really feel deep down,"
he says. "I connect with these like no other
songs I've done in the past because I put every
bit of my heart and soul into these." It's
true. These songs touch on the most intimate aspects
of Bowman's life. From the memories of his late
father to his passion for his wife, these songs
hit home in a big way.
Heart
and soul is infused into every song. Bowman's song
inspirations come from anywhere at any time. "I
hear them when I'm driving, when I'm relazing, when
I'm eating," he says. "When that happens,
I immediately try to get to the earnest piano or
guitar so I can work the song out before I forget
it." Bowman's euphoric outlook can be traced
back to his spiritual roots.
His
new release with Liquid
8 Records looks
to generate the same passion he has displayed throughout
his music career. Everything Bowman has released
has only improved on the previous release and with
the help of a new label and a fresh jazz feel; Bowman's
latest release looks to help his continuous climb
to the top of the jazz world.

Alexander Zonjic's musical life
is proof that one's true destiny isn't always revealed
the minute a youngster picks up his first instrument.
Growing up in Windsor, Ontario and excited by all
the music of the British invasion, he launched his
guitar dreams at age nine and was playing lead guitar
in an R&B band in high school. The story goes
that at age 21, when Zonjic was home on hiatus from
a rock tour, a stranger on the street who had seen
him play guitar offered him a flute ( most likely
stolen ( for 50 dollars. Zonjic got it for nine.
"I liked how it looked in the case," Zonjic
recalls. "I saw mastering it as a challenge
and found an immediate passion and all-encompassing
desire to play it. I had the nerve to audition with
it for the new University of Windsor music program
and got in on a probationary basis. That's where
I started my classical training."
Seldom
Blues, says Zonjic, ratchets up the intensity a
few notches. "There's a lot more energy on
this record, and that's not to say there was no
energy on Reach for the Sky. I had beautiful tunes
on that project. But there are more upbeat grooves
on this record than on any of my others. It's never
the same old same old. I'm always looking forward.
I'm always optimistic."

Naima
Shamborguer
With
the sultry, smooth style reminiscent of Sarah Vaughan,
jazz aficionados call her the last of a dying breed
whose sensuous, clear vocals are a voice for the
21st Century.
Naima Shamborguer was born and raised in Detroit
Michigan. Born to a musical family, professional
musicians surrounded her. From her early days of
musical training, Naima developed highly artistic
and finely polished vocal abilities through extensive
training in classical and jazz music, but jazz music
is where Naima has made a successful career. Naima
received a Creative Artist Grant award through ArtServe
Michigan to write compositions and the narration
of “The Life of Sarah Vaughan” which
has proven to be a standing ovation project. The
late Hugh Lawson deemed her “the closest that
he has ever heard to Sarah Vaughan, all she needs
is to be heard.”
A
“Motown “ treasure, Naima has performed
nationwide with the finest jazz greats known to
the world, including Marcus Belgrave, James Carter,
Geri Allen, Kenny Burrell, Berry Harris, Donald
Byrd, Steve Turre, Rodney Whitaker, Freddie Hubbard,
Marion Hayden and Wendell Harrison.
“I
love performing for audiences and leaving something
of myself with every person. My influences have
been instrumentalists as well as singers.”

Critically
acclaimed voice, eclectic musical palette, recipient
of the 2001 Michigan council of the Arts/Artserve
Michigan Jazz Composers Award, Six time ASCAP Award
winning songwriter, and Jazz educator, define Kathy
Kosins the Jazz artist.
A serious musician from Detroit, she began singing
and arranging background vocals for producer Don
Was in the early eighties, acquiring over 35 credits
to her name. As a lead vocalist she recorded for
both Cararre (Sony) and Quality Records then toured
with Was/Not Was. By the early nineties, her musical
taste in R&B evolved to straight ahead Jazz.
Stints with the JC Heard and Nelson Riddle Orchestras
followed and led to a 1996 release of "All
In A Dreams Work" (Schoolkids Records),
an impressive debut featuring a first rate collection
of nine originals and a cover of Miles' Four. Reported
by over 250 Jazz stations, she reached the top 20
in the Gavin. Her 2002 release of "Mood Swings"
(Chiaroscuro Records), continues to bring her recognition
and success at the national level. On "Vintage"
(Mahogany Jazz), she rediscovers little known songbook
gems which she places alongside a few widely known,
yet unexpected tunes from outside the jazz tradition.
She is supported by a stellar cast of instrumental
talents including pianist/arranger Aaron Goldberg,
bassist Reuben Rogers, drummer Eric Harland, guitarist
Peter Bernstein, flugelhornist Jeremy Pelt and multi-instrumentalist
John Ellis.
